In which Alex and Treyan have some much needed conversations over food.
Lots of wine.
A second chapter revised in the same week? MB is on a roll!
Well, I had a window of free time this morning, so I brought myself to Panera to write, as I often do, and four (4) hours later, I was done revising Chapter Ten.
Amazing, it’s it?
I think the hardest part with this particular revisions was one of two things – first, I didn’t want Treyan to come across as a complete creeper, and two, I didn’t want Alex to seem so readily accepting. Whether I achieved either of these through this draft, you’ll have to tell me, otherwise it will be revisited come Revisions Round Three.

But more of all, enjoy!
I changed my mind- I tend to do that a lot.
Last weekend I had posted the first part of Chapter Nine to Wattpad and WriteOn because 1) it was done, and 2) I knew the second part would take me a lot longer to revise, so better to get something up than nothing at all.
But the more I think about it, the more I consider what’s to come, story-wise, and I’ve decided that Chapter Nine is remaining as it is, and the remainder of the draft will become Chapter Ten. There’s a lot of heavy dialogue coming up, and I think I need to centralize that more.
So yeah… Chapter Nine is up, Chapter Ten will post this weekend.

I changed my mind.
100 words is a much better tease than 1,000 words.
1,000 words is practically a whole chapter!
100 words is a decent paragraph.
Yup, from now on, 100 words it is!
So here you have the next part of Chapter Nine – the first part is already up on Wattpad and WriteOn, mainly because it’s done, and I don’t know how long it’s going to take me to finish Chapter Nine. It’s not necessarily a long chapter, but it’s a dialogue-heavy and a major relationship-building point for Alex and Treyan, so there’s a lot of pressure to make sure it’s done right. Enjoy! This week, Chuck Wendig asked us to write based on one of the seven deadly sins- the post is here for your viewing pleasure. And of course I couldn’t pick just one, so Lust and Greed and Envy it is! Could also contain spoilers for Two Thousand Years as this is snagged from my Reylor-centric novella, Reylor’s Lament, which begins after the events of Two Thousand Years, so please read at your own discretion. Also, could potentially be NSFW… you’ve been warned!
So, I’m trying something new today. I’ve been a follower of Chuck Wendig’s blog for a few months now, and every now and again he posts a flash fiction challenge. This week’s can be found here, where we’re instructed to choose one of 10 sentences from his list and use it as the first line of our 1,000-2,000 story. Well, here goes nothing!
Treyan believed he had everything in his life planned for once the Empress arrived in the Empire, but when his banished brother, Reylor, takes it upon himself thwart his predestined plans, he begins to question everything his life has been built upon.
Alex was a pretty average young woman living in Boston until the stranger, Treyan, brings her to the Empire. It’s not until she’s tested and tried to her limits that her true potential is discovered.
Just a sneaky peek of what’s to come in Chapter Eight!
He pulled away from her, and suddenly. With his hand remaining behind her head, he dug in and pulled her hair, bringing her head up to him as close as the restraints would allow. Alex let you a silent scream as the tears came to her eyes. His red eyes penetrated hers as a look of complete disgust came over his face.
